Math Hooker was an idea myself and knifehandchop had after playing here, and his experience touring. We realized that in places like Europe, people just go out to see shows because it’s music, not because the artists are known, or written about.
It’s run by artists, for artists and music lovers. We want to feed, or create open ears. We want it to be a win-win for everybody. Artists get exposure by playing to different crowds (people that maybe did go to see one artist/style). We try to pick the best of the best, so the night itself stays interesting. Most importantly, Toronto gets a little more on the map when it comes to having a better “scene”.
We’re hoping that it’ll have at least something anybody can love! Or if you come for one artist, you may leave liking a few more.
